TUI is a walk backwards in product design.
Text interfaces feel new again because graphical software became too slow to express intent.
TUI is not nostalgia. It is a correction against product surfaces that require too much navigation before work can begin.
Good command interfaces collapse intent, context, and action into one place. The cost is discoverability. The gain is speed once the user knows what they want.
The next interface layer will borrow from terminals without becoming terminals. It will keep direct manipulation where it helps and use text where precision matters.
